Dr. Tim Lindquist, Professor

Dr. Lindquist has held various research, industrial, and government appointments throughout his career. These include summer faculty research appointments with the Navy, and serving as a visiting scientist with the Institute for Defense Analyses. He was selected as one of six USA representatives to a NATO technical team in his area of expertise and he has participated in international projects and consortia on software engineering environments for over a decade. Dr. Lindquist is the author of numerous papers on programming language verification, software testing, software development environments, and software engineering of distributed, mobile computing and web-based applications. Many of his publications report findings arising from the Ph.D. dissertations as well as masters projects and theses he has supervised. After receiving the bachelors, he began his career in computing as a programmer for General Electric.

Dr. Lindquist has assumed numerous roles in the creation, evaluation and direction of academic units related to computing, engineering and technology. Working with Tempe colleagues on an effort to increase the quality, capacity and variety of ASU’s computing offerings, he was the primary architect formulating the Division of Computing Studies at ASU’s Polytechnic campus. Nationally, he serves as an evaluator for computer science program accreditation.

Dr. Lindquist joined ASU’s Polytechnic campus as a department chair after serving on the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at ASU’s Tempe campus. His first academic leadership appointment was as Associate Chair of Computer Science and Engineering on the Tempe campus. He served as Interim Dean of the College of Science and Technology from 2006-2008. He also served as Associate Dean and Director of the Division of Computing Studies from its inception until 2006. He received the Ph.D. and MS in Computer Science from Iowa State University, and he received the BS in Math/Computer Science from Purdue University.
